What’s in my bag?

I have always owned Canon cameras and lenses, whilst learning photography I started with my Dad’s Canon A1. The first Canon I bought myself was the Canon Rebel T2 35mm SLR, with it’s 28-90mm f4-5.6 kit lens. When the world went digital I bought a 400d before I moved to a 5d Mark ii. I now shoot with a Canon 5d Mark iii. The 5d is an outstanding camera, its low light capabilities are second to none.

Over the years I have had a number of camera bags, ranging from rucksacks to rolling cases. I now use the Lowepro Pro Roller x300 AW. It easily carries both my camera bodies, my lenses, flash guns and everything else needed. An over the shoulder bag I recently purchased was the Billingham S3. Its size is perfect for one body and a couple of lenses as well as any hand bag items I need to bring along.

My lens collection has grown over the years to a point where I now feel I have a lens to cover every eventuality. My 2 most widely used lenses are my Canon 70-200 2.8L Mark ii and my Canon 28-70 2.8L Mark ii. I also shoot with the Canon 100mm macro and the Tokina 16-24mm.

My favourite lens for portrait photography is the Canon 50 1.4, for a ‘non L’ series lens I think this is great value and it never lets me down, it is incredibly light and even the most amateur of photographers should not be without this lens. One day I will invest in the 50 1.2L and the 85 1.2L πŸ™‚

In terms of additional lighting I use the Canon Speedlight 600EX. I do also have the Canon 430 if I need any extra off camera lighting.

Of course it goes without saying I have plenty of compact flash cards and spare camera batteries πŸ™‚
