How to securely store your wedding photographs

Your wedding photographs are precious memories that you’ll want to cherish and pass down to future generations. To ensure that your wedding photographs are safe and secure, it’s important to store them properly. Here are some tips on how to securely store your wedding photographs:

1. Choose the right storage medium: The first step to securely storing your wedding photographs is choosing the right storage medium. You have several options, including external hard drives, USB drives, DVDs, and cloud storage. Each option has its pros and cons, so it’s important to choose the one that works best for you.

2. Make multiple copies: Once you’ve chosen your storage medium, make multiple copies of your wedding photographs. This ensures that you have backups in case something happens to the original. Store the copies in different locations, such as at home and in a safety deposit box. I have hard drives stored at my parents house too

3. Use high-quality storage devices: When choosing your storage devices, make sure to use high-quality ones. This ensures that your wedding photographs are stored on reliable and durable devices that won’t fail or become corrupted over time. I love the Sandisk Extreme drives.

4. Store in a cool, dry place: To prevent damage to your wedding photographs, store them in a cool, dry place. Avoid storing them in areas where they may be exposed to moisture or extreme temperatures, such as basements, attics, or garages, or direct sunlight.

5. Use acid-free materials: When storing your wedding photographs in albums or frames, use acid-free materials. Acid from regular paper can damage your photographs over time, causing them to yellow, fade, or deteriorate.

6. Keep them organised: Finally, keep your wedding photographs organised to make it easy to find and access them. Label your storage devices and albums with the date and location of your wedding, and organise them by event, such as the ceremony, reception, and portraits.
